Preparation - even now!

There are many things you can do while still in High School or at Community College to improve your chances of receiving scholarships.  In many cases these are things that you should want to be doing anyway.

I'm speaking about "service" and "leadership".

Taking an active role serving in your church or community is looked upon favorably, and in many cases it may even be a requirement for certain scholarships.

Taking a leadership role in an organization, or even in your workplace will also improve your chances of receiving a scholarship, especially if that organization or company offers scholarships.

The bottom line is that, in many cases you can earn "free money" for doing things which will enrich you, and will also have a positive impact on your community, so why not seize those opportunities?
